Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the ability of dental students to perform accurate measurements in digital dental models in STL format, using the Nemocast software, in order to contribute to the knowledge about the effectiveness of digital tools in therapeutic decision-making in orthodontics. Methods: a prospective observational project was carried out, in which an intraoral examination was performed in a sample of 33 individuals, divided between men and women. This test was applied to individuals between 20 and 29 years of age. The aim of this study was to evaluate in detail the effect of 3D imaging and virtual reality on orthodontic treatment in a clinical context. Results: it can be estimated that the mean of the measurements performed in the NemoCast 3D program ends up being between males and females of a group of 33 individuals from the city of Cuenca, Ecuador, where the standard deviation of these values was determined, which represents a minimum dispersion of the data analyzed.
