EMOTIONAL INFLUENCE ASSOCIATED WITH SPHINCTER OF ODDI DYSFUNCTION: THE IMPORTANCE OF MENTAL HEALTH DURING THE PANDEMIC CAUSED BY THE SARS-COV-2 VIRUS

The Sphincter of Oddi (OS) can be defined as a smooth muscle that surrounds the junction of the common bile and pancreatic ducts (common duct), located before the duodenal outlet. With the function of in the digestion process occurs with the supply of bile by the liver, this secretion can be considered a biological detergent, because it allows the organism to excrete cholesterol and other components that are considered toxic, such as: bilirubins and drug metabolites. . Dysfunction in this sphincter can cause interruption in the flow of secretions as well as its reflux and an obstruction, even if transient, commonly causes a lot of abdominal pain to the patient. This study aims to verify whether there is an influence of stress and psychiatric comorbidities, especially those involving the pandemic caused by SARS-Cov-2 in the development, diagnosis and treatment of patients with this disorder. This is an integrative literature review, using an exploratory and descriptive methodology. The data were organized during the literature review in order to list the studies related to the subject in question, the filtering of the articles found had as inclusion criteria, articles in the years 2016 to 2021, in addition to articles that served as the initial basis of the theme , within the languages: Portuguese, English and Spanish. Mood disorder and gastrointestinal changes were found in the search for articles that related this influence, in which patients with depression and anxiety disorder presented with diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain.
