PRESSURE ULCER PREVENTION IN THE HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

Discuss, through the existing literature, about the prevention of pressure injury in the hospital environment. This is an integrative review of the literature. It was based on data from Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS) and Nursing Database (BDENF) via the Virtual Health Library (VHL) which had as its main question: "What does the literature address about the prevention of pressure injury in the hospital environment?". The following descriptors were used: "Pressure injury", "Patient Care", "Health promotion" and "Prevention", as inclusion criteria were considered: full text, Portuguese language, Spanish and English, which portrayed the theme under study, published in the years 2012 to 2022, and as exclusion criterion: duplicate texts, incomplete and that did not focus on the theme exposed. The descriptors were crossed through the Boolean operator "AND" for simultaneous search of subjects. Among the strategies used are since the reception, such as the length of stay of the patient in the health unit, and inspection of the skin mainly during the bath, and this skin should be cleaned, hydrated and the sheets dry and stretched to avoid injury. The present study concludes that prevention actions for pressure injury are quite effective, being done correctly and with the necessary materials in order to prevent injuries that may become chronic.
