discuss the main repercussions of climacteric and menopauseAbstract
Objective: To discuss the main repercussions of climacteric and menopause on female sexuality, as well as to elucidate the best scenario for scientific knowledge. Method: This is a bibliographical research where 1,382 articles were found in five national journals published between 2018 and 2020. Results: The review showed that there is not always a clear distinction by men and women regarding the terms climacteric and menopause. It was noteable that in the climacteric women complain of both biological and psychological symptoms, which directly influence the quality of life, on the other hand, many of them do not seek treatment for hormone replacement and are unaware that these symptoms deserve professional attention. Sexual dysfunction, in most cases, is associated with somatovegetative and urogenital symptoms. Final considerations: There is a need for further studies on the theme, to better highlight the panorama and provide training to health professionals. The study brings contribution to the multidisciplinary team, because it clarifies the scenario regarding the theme, allowing the understanding of the need for strategies and care directed to promote women's health in this phase of life.
