THE WORK OF THE SOCIAL WORKER IN THE MENTAL HEALTH NETWORK: A LOOK AT CAPS

Abstract

This article aims to identify the relevance of the work of the Social Worker in the Mental Health network held in the Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS). To achieve the proposed objective, the methodology used was bibliographic, based on books, legislation, through resolutions and standards of the Ministry of Health and scientific articles already published, as well as the best known theories on the subject in question. The challenges of the social worker's performance in mental health were addressed and evidenced that these are directly linked to the social exclusion experienced by users, the deprivation of their social life, resulting in the impossibility of exercising their rights. From the above, it was concluded that the work of the social worker in CAPS III of Brazil, as a professional member of a responsible multiprofessional team acting with a common objective of providing the well-being of the individuals/patients served, is extremely relevant. It is also concluded that the work of the social worker must contemplate both the area of psychiatry and Social Work, carrying out reception, workshops, care networks, always aiming at citizenship, the autonomy of the subject and insertion in the family, considering its social totality.
