Abstract

Training with vascular occlusion is constantly growing in terms of academic studies on the technique, due to its popularization in recent years, both in terms of hypertrophy and as a recovery treatment for individuals with joint injuries. Another topic that accumulates research in the health area is related to the rehabilitation of ACL rupture, a trauma suffered by sports practitioners. The present study aims to map what has been scientifically produced about the use of training with vascular occlusion in the rehabilitation of individuals with ACL rupture. A systematic search was carried out on May 25th and 26th, 2023, for the scope of this investigation the PubMed database was used, some terms were used to compose the string used in the search: Vascular occlusion training, rehabilitation" AND " anterior cruciate ligament. Synonyms were consulted in the literature to compose the search string. The literature search resulted in a total of 39 studies. Subsequently, 20 studies were excluded during the title review, 6 were removed after reading the abstract, leaving 13 complete articles for eligibility assessment. The results prove that the method is indeed effective, as long as it is applied to the correct exercises, in line with the ideal pressurization for the user's limb and load. It has been proven that training with vascular occlusion for individuals undergoing ACL reconstruction presents positive results for users, respecting 80% blood flow restriction performed exercises of up to 30% of 1 RM.
