As described in the literature, self-mutilation behavior, suicide attempt or suicidal ideation, emotional dysregulation, problems with the self, chaotic relationships and impulsivity in adolescents can be the premises for the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). In this direction, the treatment model of Dialectical Behavior Therapy adapted for adolescents (DBT-A) has shown promising results and its applications expanded to other contexts such as inpatient units and schools. This article has as its guiding question: What is the influence of emotional dysregulation and self-concept on risk behaviors in adolescents between 12 and 18 years old? As specific objectives, the article aims to characterize the symptoms of BPD in adolescents, mapping areas such as confusion about identity, impulsivity, emotional dysregulation and chaotic interpersonal relationships and, finally, indicating psychiatric or psychotherapeutic intervention measures. Through a qualitative study, a literature review, it was found that the treatment of DBT offers the necessary tools not only to know how to deal with crises, but also in ways to prevent them from occurring.
