CANDIDEMIA, BREVE RESEÑA BIBLIOGRÁFICA

La candidemia se considera una de las complicaciones de las infecciones causadas por hongos Candida en pacientes hospitalizados, resultando en altas tasas de mortalidad y morbilidad. Es un proceso infeccioso sistémico originado en especies del género Candida, reconocida como la cuarta causa más frecuente de infecciones del torrente sanguíneo. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo es realizar una revisión concisa de la literatura abordando temas como candidemia, resistencia, factores de virulencia, diagnóstico y tratamiento. Para ello se realizó una revisión de la literatura con análisis de datos secundarios sobre candidemia en pacientes hospitalizados. Se utilizaron diversos repositorios, como BVS Brasil, Scielo, Pubmed, LILACS, Elsevier y Medline, con descriptores específicos. Se incluyeron estudios en portugués, inglés y español de 2018 a 2023, abarcando estudios de caso, estudios clínicos y revisiones sistemáticas, quedando excluidos trabajos fuera de este período y criterios. La revisión de la literatura destaca la creciente preocupación por la candidemia debido a su alta morbilidad y mortalidad, especialmente en pacientes hospitalizados. Dada la diversidad de especies de Candida y sus factores de virulencia, como Candida auris, los enfoques multidisciplinarios que involucran evaluación clínica, cultivos de laboratorio y técnicas moleculares son cruciales para un diagnóstico y tratamiento efectivos, lo que requiere monitoreo epidemiológico para guiar las estrategias de control y prevención.
