COMMUNICATION OF THE NURSING TEAM FOCUSING ON PATIENT SAFETY : INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Abstract

This article aims to describe the communication process of the nursing team with a focus on patient safety. This is a bibliographic review of the literature, carried out through a search made in the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Nursing Database (BDENF) and the Scientific Electronic virtual library Library Online (SCIELO), from the intersection of health descriptors (DECS): communication, nursing staff and patient safety. 883 articles were found after applying the inclusion criteria. To carry out the exclusion process, the articles were carefully read and analyzed, leaving 30 articles after reading the title. In a new stage of reading and analyzing the abstracts of each article, 1 article was subtracted for duplication between the databases and 20 for not meeting the research objective, totaling a final sample of 09 articles. In view of the selected articles, the importance of communication was highlighted, not only during the shift change, but also throughout the care process, as this is a highly relevant tool for professionals to pass on clear and objective information.
