PREVENTIVE CARE OF ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) is characterized as a major problem in public health, with a high prevalence and low rate of control. usually asymptomatic and if left untreated can cause serious health problems. It is diagnosed when there is an abnormal increase in blood pressure for a long time, requiring health education for prevention, with changes in people's lifestyle and, if acquired, to facilitate treatment adherence. The objective was to identify in the national literature preventive care for arterial hypertension and the role of nurses in the face of this disease, reducing the diseases affected by it. This is an integrative literature review, carried out between September and November 2022. Data collection was performed by searching scientific articles published in the last six years in the Virtual Health Library (BVS-BIREME) and in the Google Scholar portal. Seven studies related to the theme were found, categorized into three categories, namely: studies focusing on actions to prevent and combat SAH; studies focusing on prevention in the development of disease complications; and a study focused on the role of nurses in the prevention of SAH. We emphasize the need to demonstrate that SAH is a disease that is preventable, and it is essential that the nursing professional can disseminate information on the subject, which is a way to prevent the occurrence of the disease, promoting health education.
